10 REASONS WHY BALI IS THE BEST ISLAND IN THE WORLD

(Written as a part of  ’50 Reasons Why Bali is the Best Island in the World’ for August issue of Hello Bali Magazine)
Words alone cannot describe how in love with Bali I am, but if you ever get a chance to go to Bali (which is a definite MUST) you have to experience the surf there, it’s absolutely awesome and the waves are amazing! The nightlife is always a laugh too, so make sure you spend your days wisely! Here are a few more of my reasons why Bali is the best island in the world:
making friends on the beachI wouldn’t say I’m the most confident or outgoing person in the world, but just lying there on the beach, the amount of friends you can make is overwhelming. You just lie there doing your thing, listening to music, sunbathing or whatever you like to do on the beach and as if by magic, ta-da! You’ve made a friend.

It’s a common fact that people feel happier and in turn feel better about themself when receiving a compliment and what’s the best way to receive one than in a bikini strolling around the beach from a tanned guy with a great bod? Even if you pretend to ignore them telling you that “you’re the most beautiful woman in the world”, don’t tell me you didn’t secretly love it!

stars at night
There’s nothing better than a peaceful night, lying on the beach, and staring at the stars. One night my friend and I did just that and we found constellations Pluto, Saturn, Cancer, Scorpio and Libra – it was cosmic.

street food
Before a few weeks ago I had never tried bakso. I didn’t even know what it was! So, my friend shared a bowl with me and from then on I’ve been craving the delicious street dish. It’s a cheap bowl of meatball soup that you can get on Kuta Beach and it’s so yummy!

the happy bug
As soon as I stepped off the plane onto the precious Bali turf, the smile on my face was so big it was almost fell off my face. I wasn’t sure whether it was because I was finally off the cramped aircraft or because I was in paradise. After several days in Bali, I realised it was a bit of both, but the majority being the latter. Every day in Bali has been a happy day. Whatever I’m doing, wherever I am, there’s no denying that all the happy bugs inside me are having a fiesta because here in Bali, I’m ALWAYS happy.

believing you’re a unicorn
A few friends and I took a trip to a secret beach (can’t tell you where… otherwise it wouldn’t be secret anymore) with gorgeous white sands and clear blue waters. We had the whole beach to ourselves that we let ourselves go completely and ran around pretending we were psychedelic unicorns. Bali is so magical.

 late-night padang
In London, after a night out, you always end up stumbling into a greasy chicken shop to get the oiliest, most unhealthy piece of chicken and chips ever. Here in Bali, there’s nothing better than tucking into a good plate of nasi Padang after a crazy night out and not feeling (so much) like a pile of greasy poop afterwards.

catching the sunrise over mount agung
I was dragged out of bed at 4.30am while in East Bali to climb a hill for early morning prayers, after that we sat at the top of the temple steps and watched in silence as the sun rose over Mount Agung, turning the whole mountain pink, it was literally one of the best sunrises I’ve ever seen in my life.

half naked guys running to circle k for a plastic friend
I remember riding on the motorbike down to Circle K with a friend to get a few bottles of Bintang and out of nowhere, a half naked guy sporting bright pink boxers gloriously runs past us barefoot in search for a condom, what-a-catch!

sunbathing naked
My cousin told me about this because he loves to do it. Personally, I’m not a fan but it’s apparent here in Bali that no one really cares whether you’re dressed or undressed, most probably prefer the latter, in fact, so leave the swimwear at home and go commando!
