Can't seem to make your fingers click fast enough to get a ticket for Tomorrowland, Glastonbury, V or any other awesome festivals? Don't give up! There are plenty of not as well known music festivals that are still just as awesome and definitely worth going to!
I've gathered a list of festivals in Europe that could potentially be even better than the mainstream festivals and cost half the price!
Volt Festival, Hungary 03 July - 06 July
With a mixture of many genres but with if you're one for punk/metal then Volt is the one to go for. Sounds from the likes of Thirty Seconds to Mars, Bullet For My Valentine, Billy Talent and Papa Roach but also with a mixture of indie electronic like Hurts and Martin Solveig; and famous urban and dance names like Example, DJ Fresh and a lot more which you can see here.
Tickets start at just €30 for day passes and weekend passes start at €70 which you can purchase here.
You can find cheap flights to Hungary on airlines like Ryan Air which often do £1 seats if you get in there fast enough and all you have to pay for is the taxes, so return tickets usually end up going for £20-30 which is an absolute bargain! Your return ticket plus festival ticket would still be cheaper than the likes of Glastonbury which goes for £205 a pop.
Arsenal Sound, Spain, 01 August - 04 August
If you're looking for an indie music festival then this is the one for you. WIth big names in the line up including Editors, The Drums, The Fratellis, Steve Aoki, The Maccabees, White Lies, Klaxons, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and many more which you can find here.
Tickets for the festival without camping is only €45 - with that many awesome bands it's definitely worth it! You can purchase tickets with camping which are just €55.
The Arsenal Sound website is great, it gives you all the information from where to sleep, to travel etc. you may need to keep Google Translate open but it's pretty straight forward otherwise!
Hurricane Festival, Germany, 21 June - 23 June
Another fantastic festival at a much lower price than the mainstream ones in UK but with just as good artists, some are even doing Leads and Reading too!
Hurricane Festival line up includes loads of awesome bands: Arctic Monkeys, Billy Talent, The Smashing Pumpkins, Editors, The Hives, Bloc Party, Belle & Sebastian, Ben Howard, Alt-J, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Vaccines, Darwin Deez and that is just listing a few! Check out the rest of the line up here.
Tickets are €149 for the whole festival, more pricier than the ones listed before but if you have a look at the whole line up, it's definitely worth it! Just going through them now makes me want to book a ticket now!
End of the Road Festival, UK, 30 August - 1 September
A less well known festival in UK in North Dorset - described by The Guardian as "beautiful, captivating stuff, a perfectly formed festival."
The line up consists of magical sounds from Sigur Ros, Belle & Sebastian, David Byrne & St Vincent, Warpaint, Dinosaur JR and more which you should definitely check out, here.
Early bird, super early bird and super super early bird are all sold out but don't worry! Tickets are still being sold at £165 for the weekend which includes camping. Find them here.
Lounge on the Farm, UK , 26 July - 28 July
A unique and gorgeous little festival with a stage within a cattle shed but with big names like Emeli Sande, The Wombats, The Charlatans, Soko and many more.
You can buy tickets via instalments so it won't seem like such a heavy load in one go which is handy! They also sell student tickets with a valid student ID, NUS etc and these tickets cost £95.50 for the weekend.
